I started Double Negative in 1992 as a means of collecting and publishing artwork that I thought was inspiring. In a lot of ways it was - and still is - simply an excuse to meet more artists and get a look at their sketchbooks - the stuff that most people don't get to see.

Over the past 10 years and 19 issues (#18 is out now, and there was a "half issue" between 13 and 14) we've managed to be distributed by Tower Records as well as Desert Moon in New Mexico.

In theory, some day it would be nice to publish the zine regularly, make it my full time job, increase its scope and distribution. But at the same time, keeping it as a side project maintains the original tone and integrity of the project. It's just a chance to share our sketchbooks, journals, and maybe inspire an idea or two.
